UPDATE: Heavy Flooding in San Angelo Streets

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The national weather service has issued a isolated thunderstorm warning for this afternoon. 

According to the NWS there will be Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue across much of West Central Texas through 430 P.M.

Brief heavy rainfall, dangerous lightning, small hail, and gusty winds will be possible with the stronger storms.

Hourly rainfall totals will generally remain below one half inch, with localized amounts over 1 inch possible.

The warning was issued for the following counties:

FISHER-NOLAN-STERLING-COKE-RUNNELS-IRION-TOM GREEN-CONCHO- CROCKETT-SCHLEICHER-SUTTON-HASKELL-THROCKMORTON-JONES-SHACKELFORD- TAYLOR-CALLAHAN-COLEMAN-BROWN-MCCULLOCH-SAN SABA-MENARD-KIMBLE- MASON.

UPDATE: 3:42 p.m. 

The National Weather service has now put out an update warning of flash flooding. 

The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in Southeastern Tom Green County in west central Texas Until 5:15 P.M. At 3:21 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen and additional inch of rainfall is possible in the warned area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include San Angelo, Christoval, Twin Buttes Reservoir, Lake Nasworthy, O.c. Fisher Reservoir and Goodfellow Air Force Base.

This includes the following low water crossings at Howard and Webster, Jackson From Knickerbocker to South Bryant, Southwest Blvd and Loop 306, College Hills and Millbrook, 1500 Block of Spaulding, 300 block of North Archer, Parkwood and Lindenwood, Sul Ross At Red Arroyo Crossing ,and Huntington and Sunset and Paseo De Vaca and Washington.

Do not drive through these low water crossings or any other low water crossing with water flowing across the roadway. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
