City Asking Resident's Help in Deciding First Park to get Hammock Hook-ups

SAN ANGELO, TX--(City of San Angelo Press Release) The Parks and Recreation Department is considering installing hammock hookup poles so the public can hang its own hammocks to relax.

Parks officials would like to try this in one park location before expanding elsewhere. But first they want the public’s thoughts on the best place to do this. That is, where would citizens most like to recline in their own hammock?

Parks and Recreation will be conducting an online survey of possible park locations from Nov. 14 through Dec. 15 at cosatx.us/hammock. Respondents can choose up to three sites where they would like to see hammock poles installed. The survey takes only a minute to complete.

Candidates for hammock poles are:

  • In Bart DeWitt Park (near The Bosque) along the Concho River.
  • Santa Fe Park.
  • Kids Kingdom.
  • Unidad Park.
  • Brentwood Park.
  • Brown Park.
  • Santa Rita Park.
  • Glenmore Park.
  • Meadowcreek Park.
  • Jaime Padron Park.
  • Other. (Citizens can list another spot they would like the Parks and Recreation Department to consider.)

Think we can find MORE important things to do with the few dollars the City Parks and Recreation Department has. Let's do More repairing on what we have.

If the Parks Department has enough money to blow on and idea like this, take it away from them. With the crime rate we have we need more police officers on the streets not loafers in hammocks.

Yes, Paul, it should be residents'. many have lost the definition of possessive apostrophe. There are many more important topics in the world, but....could they possibly get that right?

Awesome, just pick a park closest to the down town area so that all these nasty, worthless bums we have in town will have a place to hang their hammock. That way after they get wasted on their Meth, Heroin and alcohol they bought with all the free cash they get from standing on street corners begging for money, they'll have a place to crash and sleep it off..... Good thinking you city clowns..... (I mean city councilmen)

When I read this article, the first thing that popped into my mind was that it would be a magnet for all the homeless people. I don’t see any good reason for the City of San Angelo to spend our taxes we pay on such a crazy idea. Repair our roads especially College Hills!

Put the hammock set ups near the freeway off/on ramps, so the trash can lie down and collect their drug money from the usual suckers, rather than luring them to our parks.

If the set ups end up at the parks, just put the poles -- no eye bolts or s-hooks. Those of us who are hell bent on naps in the park can purchase our own, the street trash will ask themselves "s-hooks and eye bolts...or drugs??", and choose the obvious.
