UPDATE: No Injuries in Fire That Damaged Home Near San Angelo Elementary School

 

UPDATE 10/30/18 11:40 a.m.  Ladder One arrived first and saw smoke and flames at the back corner of the house. 

According to San Angelo Fire Department Captain Matthew Ellison, there was a fire in the kitchen area that got into the cabinets. 

The Fire Marshall's office investigator ruled out arson at this time but it is still under investigation.  

The kitchen was completely damaged and there was smoke damage throughout the entire house. 

The Red Cross was on the scene talking to the residents.  The fire got into the attic and cause damage there.  

Firefighters had to use a chainsaw to get into the attic.  

No one was at home when the fire started.  One resident was in a small apartment at the same address but they were not in the house that burned. 

No one was injured.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  

SAN ANGELO, TX -- San Angelo Firefighters are battling a house fire near San Jacinto Elementary School at the intersection of Spaulding and Pope Streets. 

Reporters on the scene say there is a lot of smoke coming from the attic but no flames. 

Firefighters appear to have the blaze under control.  

The fire is not threatening the school and there is no word on whether anyone was in the house.
