SAFD to Honor 4 Retirees & Celebrate 4 Promotions Today

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- (Press Release) The San Angelo Fire Department will honor four retirees with more than 100 years of combined service at a public reception Monday, July 2, while also celebrating the promotion of four firefighters.

The event will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the SAFD’s Central Fire Station, 306 W. 1st St. The public is invited.

The retirees are Lt. Hal Hoffman with 28 years of service, drivers Mel Reyes (22 years) and Greg Halfmann (24 years), and Karla Steppe, an investigator who has worked in the Fire Marshal’s office 27½ years.

Celebrating promotions will be Lt. Jason Jacoby and drivers Josh Wascom, Joey Huffman and Nathan Havlak.

“We will miss colleagues who have been with the San Angelo Fire Department for more than two decades,” Fire Chief Brian Dunn said. “But we love honoring their service and wishing them well in their future endeavors. It’s also gratifying to celebrate firefighters who have worked tremendously hard to move into positions of greater responsibility and leadership within the department.”
