Broken 20-Inch Water Main Repaired with Minimal Inconvenience to Water Customers

SAN ANGELO, TX — Overnight, at 3:30 a.m. an alarm went off at the City of San Angelo Water Production Plant indicating that water storage tank levels were dropping. After some investigation, a flooded area near W. Twohig Ave. and S. Taylor St. was discovered because of a busted 20-inch water main pipe.

Early this morning, the area was a river of water as City Water Department crews worked tirelessly to isolate and then fix the broken water main. The City warned nearby water customers that service to their homes and businesses may be affected.

At about 1:15 p.m., the City announced the broken main was repaired. “Although the repair required reducing water pressure in the line, the work was completed with minimal impact on water service to customers,” City spokesman Anthony Wilson said.
