Weather Delays Annual 4th of July Fireworks Show

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- The annual 4th of July Fireworks Show along Lake Nasworthy has been delayed until tomorrow evening.

Due to the current rain showers and high winds, it has been deemed unsafe to fire fireworks. Coordinator of this year's fireworks show Karen Abbott told LIVE! that the show has been delayed until the evening of July 5. The show will begin at the same time, nightfall.

Ken Landon, fireworks expert, explained that the road leading to the numerous firework mortar boxes has been flooded from the rain causing the ground to become muddy and dangerous to vehicles. Furthermore, Landon added that the fuse lines leading to each mortar box have become electrical hazards due to the showers and lighting strikes.

LIVE! would like to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July!
