AEP Beats Goal: About 200 Left Without Power in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — As of midnight Monday, about 200 customers in the San Angelo and surrounding areas remained without power as compared with the 15,500 left without power at the peak of the Friday night storm.  According to the AEP outage map, less than 30 customers in the Christoval area, 171 inside San Angelo's city limits and fewer than five in Grape Creek were without power.

Final restoration activities will continue until power has been restored to everyone impacted by the storm.

“We have made significant progress since the Friday evening storm, and we were even able to reach the 95 percent restoration level much earlier than projected,” stated Fred Hernandez, AEP Texas manager of External Affairs in a press release.  “However, we will continue our activities until electric service is restored for all customers in the San Angelo area.

“Our focus all along has been to get everyone back in service as quickly and safely as possible,” Hernandez continued.  “We appreciate everyone’s patience as our employees and contractors worked together to bring things back to normal.”

This will be the last update on this restoration effort.  Residents can track progress on the restoration effort by visiting the outage area at www.aeptexas.com. There is a real-time map featuring the most current available information.  Customers also can sign up for outage alerts to receive updates on outages here.
