Goodfellow to Host Their Annual Armed Forces Day for Military Members

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Goodfellow Air Force Base (GAFB) will host its annual Armed Forces Day this Saturday, May 20, starting at 11 a.m. at GAFB.  Military personnel, both retired and active-duty, were distributed wrist bands earlier this week so they can receive free food and free access to Fort Concho, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, the Railway Museum and the Bosque Park. A GAFB press release stated that the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce also arranged for the San Angelo Municipal Pool to be open for a privet pool party.

Goodfellow is expecting over 2,500 military personnel and their family members to attend. The event is not open to the public.

Initially, the food was to be served at the downtown River Stage, however, due to inclement weather, the food will now be served on base at the Carswell Fitness Center, Public Affairs Officer, 2nd Lt. Tisha Wilkerson, said.

Lt. Wilkerson added that those with wrist bands are still eligible for the activities despite the change in venue. The wrist bands were distributed ahead of time through Goodfellow.
