Houston-Harte Expressway Westbound Closed Due to Three-Vehicle Crash

The Houston-Harte Expressway had all westbound lanes closed at approximately 5:15 p.m. Tuesday due to a three-vehicle crash. From visual inspection of the crash scene, it appears that the cause may have been a domino effect of rear-ending cars.

Three vehicles are involved, including a black Chevrolet Traverse, a Ford F-250 pickup, and a Ford Taurus. The Taurus is so mangled that it is diffucult to determine the make and model.

Injuries are unknown. All available units of the police were requested to tend to the scene.

According to Officer Brian Bylsma, investigator of this crash, the cause was the F-250, whose driver will be cited for Failue to Control Speed.

The construction zone near the 2100 block of Houston-Harte saw traffic slowing considerably. Meanwhile, the F-250 approached the slowing Taurus from behind "at a high rate of speed." The Taurus, after receiving the rear-ending, rear-ended the Chevy Traverse.

There was one injured in the crash. He self-transported himself to a local hospital.
