New to the Team: LIVE! Content Strategist Cheyenne Benson

Denver City, a little place that few have heard of—though I believe both Grape Creek and Wall football players know and loathe that drive— and even fewer have been there.Contrary to what the name would lead one to believe, Denver City is a dry and dusty place where more pumpjacks grow than trees. The air smells like sulfur and money—oil, in case you didn’t catch that—and if you’re not a farmer or mining that black gold, you’re not doing much else.

This beautiful place is located just inside the 806 area code, 3 ½ hours from San Angelo, in what could contend for most boring drive in the states. My Journalism career began in 2009 at South Plains College in Levelland. Two years later, armed with an Associate’s in Broadcast Journalism, I headed southwest, sights set on Angelo State.

I chose ASU in order to go a different route than broadcast journalism but somehow never really left the field. No less than a year had passed and before I landed a job at KSAN as a production assistant. Through KSAN I got to know San Angelo intimately, and fell in love with the small town feel with the big city perks.

Perks like a Sam’s club, movie theatre, museums, and a multitude of other “cool” things that cities with populations in the 4-digit range lack.In May I graduated with my Bachelors in Communications and set forth to find the ever elusive “dream job.

”Once I saw the posting for a job at Hyde Interactive, I had no choice but to throw 200% effort into getting onboard. After a week of calling incessantly, Joe Hyde offered me the position of Content Strategist just to get the phone to stop ringing.

I adore my adopted home of San Angelo, its friendly feel and most of all the fine people who make the city a great community to live.

You keep it classy, San Angelo.
