Ideal Weather Draws Near Record Crowd to Fairgrounds

SAN ANGELO, TX -- San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Officials Saturday afternoon opened up overflow parking for the first time in its history during a matinee rodeo performance.

The weather was great for being outside and may be a contributing factor to the near record crowd.  It was partly cloudy with temperatures in the lower to mid 70s and it was a bit breezy but the Sutliff & Stout carnival was crowded as were the vendor halls and midway. See the pictures above.

The Championship Bar-b-que Cook Off took place Saturday at the north end of the Spur Arena.  Cook Off Director Joann Walter said the 29 teams competed in jalapeno poppers, chicken, ribs and brisket.  We will have full results when they become available.

San Angelo Police were on the streets around the San Angelo Fairgrounds directing traffic to the overflow parking lot because the main lot in front of the coliseum was full at 1:30 p.m.
