Senator Cornyn to Visit Angelo State University Students

SAN ANGELO, TX – U.S. Senator John Cornyn will be at Angelo State University next week to help them welcome incoming students to the first day of the semester.

According to Senetor's Office, on August 14, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) will join Texas Tech University System Chancellor Dr. Tedd Mitchell and Angelo State University (ASU) President Lt. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins on campus for ASU’s first day of school Monday.

The two will see a classroom reconfigured for hybrid learning with resources provided through the CARES Act, visit with students about how federal coronavirus response resources have helped them with tuition, and help pass out face masks paid for by the CARES Act to students on the mall.

San Angelo LIVE! previously reported, on August 6, that Senator Cornyn helped San Angelo receive over $100,000 more dollars in government relief.

“As Texans continue to grapple with the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, it’s critical that we continue to do everything we can to shield them from the economic fallout,” said Sen. Cornyn.  “I’ll continue to do everything I can to encourage economic recovery in San Angelo amid this deadly pandemic.”

Any opportunity for a photo op; when was the last time Cornyn was at ASU? Hmmmm. Mitchell called Hawkins "General Hawkins" in a notice to ASU; however it's "Lt. General" to you Tedd.
