Outrage: Democrat Houston Mayor Cancels Republican Party Convention

HOUSTON, TX – Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner on Wednesday announced his decision to cancel the upcoming in-person Republican Party of Texas convention at the last minute as the dispute continues between the Republican Party of Texas and Houston city officials.

Turner made the announcement Wednesday afternoon, following a decision about whether to proceed with the event, which was expected to draw a crowd of approximately 6,000 attendees next week.

Turner tweeted Wednesday stating, “Today I instructed the Houston First Corporation to exercise it's right contractually in canceling the State’s Republican Convention that was set to take place next week at GRB."

Turner also wrote, “the public health concern for our first responders, convention workers, and those who would have attended weighed heavily in our decision making."

RPT chairman James Dickey could not be reached immediately for comment, but said in a Facebook live video on Tuesday evening the party had “no plans to cancel our in-person convention.”

In a statement Wednesday Dickey wrote, “After allowing tens of thousands of protestors to peaceably assemble in the same city, in the same area, without any of the safety precautions and measures we have taken, he is seeking to deny a political Party’s critical electoral function that should be equally protected under the constitution."

Houston Mayor Turner quickly addressed the GOP's comparison between protestors gathering outdoors and the indoor convention in a tweet by saying, “It is one thing to be talking about an indoor convention where people are in close proximity with each other for a substantial amount of time rather than walking outside in a protest, When people are marching and protesting, no one is making lunch/dinner, cleaning up behind them.”

Houston, one of the top five most populous cities in the nation, sits in Harris County which currently has the most COVID-19 cases in the state of Texas at 23,996 active cases as of Tuesday afternoon, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

On Wednesday afternoon, the party released their instituted precautions for next week’s planned convention which complied with several of the Mayor's demands including:

  • thermal scanning of each attendee as they enter the convention center
  • limited entryways for attendees
  • revised floor plans for the caucuses and general sessions to accommodate social distancing
  • established deep cleanings after every meeting/session
  • provided contactless registration
  • established one-way traffic in our exhibit hall
  • elevated curtain height to create further separation at exhibit booths
  • provided contactless hand sanitizer
  • obtained masks for attendees use

In it's statement Wednesday following the Mayor's decision RPT chairman James Dickey said, “With his words today, Mayor Turner is saying Houston does not want business. He does not want Houston to get back to work. He is not able to move forward and rise to these new challenges."

“Is the City of Houston never going to get back to work? Is the City of Houston never to hold another convention at their cavernous Convention Center?

This is an opportunity to show how to get back to work safely and how to hold conventions safely with cutting edge technology.

Our legal team is assessing the ability of the City to act at this time in this manner and weighing our legal options. We are prepared to take all necessary steps to proceed in the peaceable exercise of our constitutionally protected rights."

Everyone should have seen this coming! Another blatant example of hypocrisy by the dummycrats. No issues with raising the covid numbers in Houston by letting people protest, riot, and cause chaos in close proximity to each other on the streets, but letting the GOP assemble is just too much of a safety and health hazard.........that mayor is a pizza chip.

Too bad the Mayor of Tulsa didn't have the guts or the balls to cancel trumps Klan rally. The spike in that city might not be as high. Houston's hospital's are near capacity. Can't wait for trumps tweet on this issue.

Perhaps if some pro-Sharia group had held a demonstration, you would be more amenable to this, Elderly Sodium Chloride?

Biden is still not going to win. You can cancel the year 2021 and Trump will still be president in 2022.

Houston don't want a bunch of potential whining carriers of COVID-19 to bring their malady to the city already overwhelmed with the virus. Maybe the GOP should move the convent to Arizona or Florida. The Tulsa affair left its mark with increased infections , why would Houston want any of that action?

Yes, Houston is but an enormous mass grave at this point, full of empty structures and wares all but abandoned for fear that they harbor the plague. Even when birds there set aloft, they then fall back to the earth wheezing until they die, the blood flowing from their beaks.

Old Salt,
The Klan is a Democrat institution, invented by a Democrat, and had Democrat membership. Obama, Hillery's, and Biden's late mentor WV Senator"KKK" Byrd was a Grand Wizard in the Klan.

The Klan tried to throw people off by riding horses covered with Klan robes but they were actually Donkey's which is the Symbol of the Democratic Party.

The "Great Society" promoted by LBJ was the turning point for southern Democrats. They switched parties by the thousands in the late 60's and early 70's to become today's "GOP".

It is true that the KKK and the rest of the bigoted, racists and xenophobic ideals were promoted by the Democrats. It's factually correct and part of America's history. Not trying to change it. Unlike right-wing agitators, placing traitors on pedestals and calling them Patriots. THAT is changing history.

Salt your right about one thing. LBJ turned a lot of Democrats into Republicans, I for one. It wasn't "The Great Society" that did it for me, it was the Gulf of Tonkin and two of our destroyers attacking each other. LBJ used it as an excuse to go to war against North Viet Nam and become a "Great" War Time President. I lost a lot of Friends because of a power hungry Democrat.

Now back to your Balonga sandwich. It was Republicans not Democrats that passed the Civil Rights act, there was no switcharoo like the lie the Democrats and you are pushing. The Democrats are basically the same now except they no longer have a love of country or any vestige of character. Obama is a Socialist, Bernnie is a Communist, AOC is a Marxist, and Hillery is a Globalist. It's easy to see your confusion , riding around on a sheet covered Donkey and all.

Thank you. A person can be blind and still see what these dummycrats are trying to do to this country. Play on Neil Peart!

Speaking of blind it would a wasted effort for you to look in a mirror. Mind you juni every major economic down turn in this country was when republicans were in control of the situation. They just can't seem to help themselves from pilfering the treasury and anything else they can get away with.

Same ol' tactics. Trying to change history to make yourself feel better. The switch occurred, it's why Ol' Dixie is republican. During the civil war it was Democratic. Don't forget to proclaim that "republicans" freed the slaves too. Glad your not a history teacher.

No doubt, the crypto-Mohametan Thomas Jefferson would have been pained to see his countrymen fighting over the topic of slavery, which is addressed so eloquently in the surahs and discussed so concisely in the hadiths, the revelations of which are opened up and explicated so clearly when read aloud in the original language of Klingon.

The convention should've simultaneously promoted this gathering as a BLM/ANTIFA rally, to "seek justice for ______" (fill in the blank with the name of any fallen ghetto rat). Be sure to leave out the fact that more than likely, the dude was killed by another rodent of the same color, and not officer Whitey Mc Nazi.

None of the have-nots and basement bunnies will know it's a sham, because well, the staggering numbers of Blacks killed by other Blacks simply don't get any notoriety, and apparently don't seem to matter.

Seventeen Black lives were snuffed out in Chicago over the holiday weekend. Any Woke-jokes know the names of ONE of these victims? Exactly.

Just provide a name, a face and shrieking lowlife with a megaphone to rile the herd outside, and let the adults go about their business inside. In the end, the convention attendees will go home, and Houston will resemble the kind of ravaged primate enclosure that Democratic mayors drool over.

"When people are marching and protesting, no one is making lunch/dinner, cleaning up behind them.” - Mayor Turner

YOU ARE their lunch and dinner, Mr. Turner, and in case you haven't noticed, the entire country has been cleaning up behind this influx of human shit, you fucking tool.

I ate egg whites for breakfast, also had some toast on white bread earlier.

Later I brushed my teeth with Crest 3D white, and wrote down a small grocery list on a white board.

I'm a helpless bigot. Forgive me.
