Conaway: Stop the Trump-Russia Investigations for the Good of Our Country

WASHINGTON, DC — Wednesday, Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) released a statement following the conclusion of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Congressman Mike Conaway has had enough of the Democratic Party's endless investigation of President Trump and Russian collusion. Wednesday, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence heard testimony from former Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller on his report of the two-year investigation he led that failed to discover impeachable offenses of the law made by the president.

Conaway was at our offices at the end of April of this year. Conaway led the first House investigation into Russian collusion and didn't find any evidence Trump was involved. Here's what he said back then:

Nothing new was learned from Meuller's testimony today, Conaway said.

"There were no surprises during today’s hearing. Everything Mr. Mueller testified to today was in his publicly released report, which is available online for anyone to read," Conaway said in a statement.

“Three investigations examining Russian interference in the 2016 election campaign were completed, all coming to the same conclusion: Russia did indeed attempt to interfere in our election, and there is no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign or administration and Russia.

“No amount of discussion or further hearings on this matter will suddenly change the facts of multiple multi-year investigations, and it’s time for my colleagues to accept that reality. Our country will be better off for it.”

Conaway represents the 11th Congressional District that spans from Granbury through San Angelo to Midland.

There is one word to describe the current batch of Democrats in Congress....embarrassing. And any self respecting Democrat in the Concho Valley should be embarrassed for them.

If Conaway does not like how democracy works, he can go to where the government shuts down dissent (Russia) and obstructs the American way of checks and balances in government. "My report did not exonerate the President", Mueller knows what the job of Congress is, why doesn't Conaway? Conaway refuses to do his job as a member of this government and shows where his true loyalties lie. What the representative fails to realize, it is for the good of the country to complete what this report lays out in the 10 possible instances of obstruction, to which the representative, with his refusal to do his job, is complicit.

There was no attempt for Russia to interfere, they did. I agree that we need to stop the investigation, but for a different reason. I think we need to focus on protecting our elections. I do believe that just last year, Florida was hacked, again. Yet, we have a President who doesn't believe it, a Republican party who does nothing about it, and the Democrat party is too busy trying to turn the polls. Everyone is complicit in not doing anything.

In case the Democrats are too dense to figure it out, Mueller isn't saying anything that isn't already in his report. He said it when he released it, he said it when he first testified, and he said it again yesterday. Yet I bet they're just stupid enough to drag him before a Congressional committee again, so he can repeat himself one more time.

It's is indeed time for Congress to consider the needs of the nation first, and worry less about hanging Trump, seeing how that seems to be their sole agenda. Anything, anything at all to get rid of Trump, and no real plan as to how to accomplish their goal beyond flooding the race with Democratic candidates.

We must get to the bottom of this. Our Democracy depends on this. Just Like Benghazi, Emailgate and the rest of the investigations of the last admin, it has to be investigated by Congress and closure attained. We have had no Congressional investigations into this or the massacre in Niger that left 4 service members dead. This administration must be held accountable.
