National Hunting and Fishing Day, celebrated on the fourth Saturday of every September, recognizes hunters and anglers for their contributions and leadership to wildlife and conservation.
The 2.27 inches recorded early Tuesday morning at the airport in San Angelo put the total for the month of September at 3.04 inches, which makes 12.28 inches for the year which is 2.73 inches below average.
A line of thunderstorms developed after midnight across West Central Texas and dumped 2.27 inches of rain at Mathis Field as it slowly moved off to the southeast in what could be the first of several waves of rain across the area this week.
