NWS: Heat Advisory Extended Through Friday

SAN ANGELO, TX – A Heat Advisory is in effect for much of West Central Texas through Friday evening mainly along and north of a San Angelo to Brownwood line.

Dangerous high temperatures are expected, with a threat for heat related illnesses.

Thursday through Tuesday the dangerously hot conditions will persist through the remainder of the week and may expand south towards the I-10 corridor Thursday and Friday.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for areas north of Interstate 20 from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening, with a Heat Advisory in effect for areas south of I-20 and north of a San Angelo to Brownwood line through the same time period.

A Heat Advisory means that hot weather conditions are occurring or expected. This will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible.

Never, ever, leave children or pets alone in enclosed vehicles, not even for a few minutes.
