ATTENTION: Lake Nasworthy Crappie Anglers

SAN ANGELO, TX – Big news came today from the Texas Parks and Wildlife concerning crappie fishing in Lake Nasworthy. 

According to the Inland Fisheries San Angelo District - Texas Parks and Wildlife, on May 21, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has approved San Anelo's TPW proposed regulation change for crappie at Lake Nasworthy.

The new crappie regulation for Lake Nasworthy, which will take effect SEPTEMBER 1, 2020, will remove the 10-inch minimum length limit, however, the 25 fish daily bag will remain in place. 

This regulation change was proposed based on fisheries data that showed crappie in Lake Nasworthy were overcrowded, slow growing, and skinny. Additionally, anglers have long expressed their frustration over the lack of legal-size crappie. By removing the minimum length limit, crappie anglers will benefit in that they can harvest smaller crappie (if they choose too) and take more fish home. Additionally, if anglers harvest enough crappie, the crappie population may benefit from a reduction in overcrowding, and fish condition may improve.
