NWS: Severe Weather Possible Across the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO, TX – Severe thunderstorms dumped hail across the western counties of the Concho Valley overnight and the National Weather Service office in San Angelo says there is a chance for more Saturday night.

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon through the evening hours Saturday, with increasing chances of severe thunderstorms during the overnight hours. The main hazards will be very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes. Deadly lightning will also be a threat.

The forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday. Some of the storms could be severe. Cloudy early, then gradual clearing, with a high near 84. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Tonight showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1 a.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Increasing clouds, with a low around 55. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

It will clear up on Easter Sunday with sunny skies and a high near 80. Windy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph increasing to 20 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.
