NWS: Freezing Temps to Follow Rain Across West Texas

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Moderate to heavy rain will continue across West Central Texas Wednesday night and cooler temperatures return Thursday. 

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, showers will continue to increase over the next few hours. Rainfall amounts will be around a tenth of an inch, but will become heavier by 5 p.m. making roadways a little slick in some locations.

Still looking for the heaviest rainfall to occur this evening into the overnight hours, with precipitation tapering off late tonight and early Thursday morning.Temperatures will remain below normal the next 24 hours, as a reinforcing shot of colder air filters into the region tomorrow, along with breezy north winds developing.

The forecast calls for showers before 7 p.m. Wednesday then rain, mainly between 7 p.m. and 1a.m. Low around 37. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

On Thursday, a chance of rain before 7 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

 Expect below freezing temperatures Thursday night with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 28. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
