Bone Chilling Cold and A Glaze of Ice Forecast for the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO, TX – Bridges and Overpasses in San Angelo and the Concho Valley could be iced over Tuesday morning as a cold front blows through the area bringing the threat of single digit wind chills and possible ice on roadways. 

According to the National Weather Service Office in San Angelo, strong, gusty north winds will continue this afternoon and evening. A Wind Advisory has been issued. Also, temperatures are expected to fall into the low to mid 20s for much of the area by daybreak Tuesday, along with very cold wind chill readings between 5 and 15 degrees.

Finally, a mix of light freezing rain and sleet is possible Monday night south of a San Angelo to Brady line. A light glaze of ice is possible, mainly across bridges and overpasses in the I-10 corridor, which would result in hazardous travel conditions.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the Concho Valley through 6 a.m. Tuesday.  

The forecast for Monday night calls for a slight chance of freezing rain and sleet before midnight. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 21.

Wind chill values between 10 and 15. Windy, with a north wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%

On Tuesday expect sunny skies with a high near 45. Wind chill values between 9 and 19 early. North wind 5 to 15 mph.

This is potentially a dangerous weather situation as bridges and overpasses could be iced over causing hazardous driving conditions for the morning commute.
