WATCH: Thunderstorms Dump Large Hail and Prompt Tornado Warning

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Thunderstorms Saturday morning dumped large hail in Carlsbad and Grape Creek and prompted a tornado warning from the National Weather Service office in San Angelo. 

According to reports, hail near baseball size was reported in the Grape Creek area while dime to quarter sized hail was reported near Christoval. 

The NWS office in San Angelo issued a tornado warning for a radar indicated twister between Christoval and Wall moving east. 

There are no reports of severe damage at this time. 

The line of thunderstorms that blew through the Concho Valley Saturday morning also dumped heavy rain in the area causing flooding.

The forecast calls for strong north winds to come in behind the line of storms and the NWS has issued a wind advisory for Saturday afternoon and evening. 

The wind advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday. 

Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. High profile vehicles will see more difficult driving conditions on east and west oriented roadways. Any boaters heading out on area lakes will see choppy conditions

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain through 8 p.m. Saturday night with gusty northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph gusting to 35 mph.
