Hot and Windy Conditions Raise Fire Weather Concerns

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- High winds and low humidity Thursday afternoon will create elevated fire weather conditions in the Concho Valley.  

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, elevated to near critical fire weather conditions will affect areas mainly west of a Throckmorton to Abilene to San Angelo line this afternoon due to gusty west winds, relative humidity values between 15 and 25 percent, and very warm temperatures.

A Fire Danger Statement is in effect for these areas this afternoon.

Friday through Wednesday Elevated fire weather conditions will affect the area Friday into the weekend due to warm temperatures, relative humidity values between 20 and 30 percent and gusty west winds.

There is a chance for rain to mix with or change over to snow at times early next week from Monday night into Tuesday night.

The forecast calls for high temperatures Thursday afternoon around 80 degrees with west winds gusting to 30 mph.

Friday will also be warm and windy with temperatures in the mid 80s and west winds at 15 to 20 mph gusting to 30 mph.

By Monday night winter weather returns to the Concho Valley as temperatures will dip to near freezing with a 30 percent chance of rain or snow.
