Thunderstorm Advisory Issued Wednesday in the Concho Valley

 

UPDATE `10/31/18 11:15 a.m.  Scary weather headed for San Angelo at noon on Halloween.  

Accordig to the NWS, a Significant Weather Advisory has been issued for Tom Green County.  At 11:09 a.m., doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Sherwood, or near Mertzon, moving east at 35 mph.

Half inch hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm. This strong thunderstorm will be near Sherwood around 11:15 a.m.. Arden around 11:20 a.m., Tankersley around 11:30 a.m.. Knickerbocker around 11:35 a.m., San Angelo around 11:35 a.m.. Twin Buttes Reservoir around 11:40 a.m., Lake Nasworthy around 11:45 a.m.,Goodfellow Air Force Base around 11:55 a.m., Wall around 12:05 p.m..

Other locations impacted by this storm include Harriet, Us- 67 Near The Irion-Tom Green County Line and Us-87 Near The Coke- Tom Green County Line.

Very heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Rain and cooler temperatures are forecast for the Concho Valley today and that could lead to some flooding in already saturated areas. 

According to the National Weather Service Office in San Angelo, thunderstorms are possible across West Central Texas.

A few storms may be severe this afternoon and evening, along and south of a Brownwood to San Angelo to Barnhart line.

The main hazards will be large hail, damaging winds, and dangerous lightning.

The forecast has an 80 percent chance of rain today and a 60 percent chance tonight.  

A cold front will move through the area keeping temperatures in the lower to mid 70s throughout the week.
