Feds Seeking Input on Transportation Plan for Twin Buttes Reservoir

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation is hosting a second public meeting to solicit feedback on a proposed Transportation Management Plan (TMP) at Twin Buttes Reservoir.

According to a press release, the meeting will be from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive. The forum will be an open-house format to allow the public to come and go at their convenience; staff will be available to discuss the TMP and answer questions.

The TMP at Twin Buttes Reservoir is being developed by the Bureau of Reclamation in cooperation with the City of San Angelo and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The TMP will designate areas and travel routes for motorized vehicular use, and will enhance public access to federal lands associated with Twin Buttes Reservoir.

The goal is to enhance recreational opportunities while preserving the diverse benefits provided by Twin Buttes Reservoir and surrounding lands. The draft TMP reflects input previously provided from an initial public meeting on April 18, 2017, as well as from meetings held with local user groups.

Copies of the draft TMP will be available at the Sept. 25 meeting. An electronic version of the raft TMP map can be accessed at usbr.gov/gp/otao.

Written comments may be submitted in person at the public meeting, via email to [email protected], or by mail to Reclamation’s Oklahoma-Texas Area Office, Twin Buttes TMP, 5316 Hwy 290 W., Suite 110, Austin, TX 78735. Written comments must be received by Oct. 15. Contact Trent Parish at 512-899-4150 or [email protected] with any general questions regarding the proposed project.
