WATCH: Chuck Norris and Friends Attempt to Knockout World Record in Texas

COLLEGE STATION, TX -- When I first heard the news that Chuck Norris was hosting a 5K fun run to raise money for his charity and that it would be held in College Station, TX, AND that they would be attempting to set a world record, I immediately signed up. I didn't care about any other details.

Norris and his wife live in Navasota, TX not too far from College Station and Texas A&M University where the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum are located.

Norris owns CForce Premium Artesian Water with his wife, Gena, and the company is headquartered in Navasota.  Chuck and Gena were friends with George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara and he sky dived with the former President on Bush's 80th birthday according to the announcer Saturday morning.

Watch the video of Norris giving high fives to every runner who crossed the finish line:

Organizers were overwhelmed when 5,000 people from 40 states and seven countries signed up within the first few days.  The race sold out and those wanting to participate who didn't sign up in time we given an opportunity to do so virtually.

The 5,000 plus runners were given a Chuck Norris T-shirt, beard and belt buckle and were instructed to wear them for a massive group photo to be submitted for a world record for the most people dressed as Chuck Norris.  Once the photo was taken around 9 a.m. organizers lined up the runners from fastest to slowest at the starting line.

It took several minutes for all the runners to pass through the starting line and out onto the course.  The 3.1 mile loop meandered around the Texas A&M campus and many of the participants walked the course.

True to his word, Norris was at the finish line and high-fived everyone who crossed the finish line to the delight of all.  I crossed the finish line on Norris's left and he high-fived me.

That was cool!

Organizers said they would submit the group photo for verification as a world record.  All the proceeds from the Chuck Norris CForce 5K went to Kickstart Kids, the charity Norris started in 1990.

The announcer hinted that the charitable fun run could become an annual event.
