Eden Residents Under Boiled Water Notice

EDEN, TX – The City of Eden has released a public notice to ask its citizens to boil water before using after an incident led to a water line breaking and losing pressure.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Eden to notify all customers to boil water before consumption. This includes when using city water to wash hands/face, brush teeth, drink, cook, etc.

The notice especially warns children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems who are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria to exercise caution.

All customers should follow the following directions:
Water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled before using for drinking water or human consumption purposes. Water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. This is to ensure that all harmful bacteria and microbes are destroyed before they can be accidentally ingested.

For those not wanting to boil water, they are advised to purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When the boil water notice is no longer in effect the public water system will issue a notice to customers that the water is safe for drinking water and human consumption.

The City of Eden asks citizens to share the information with those who may have not heard about the notice or received it directly. Any citizens with questions may contact Rodney Castleberry at 325-869-2211.
