Tejano Singer Loses The Battle Against COVID-19

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Texano music community is mourning the death of Joe Gonzales of the El Dorado Band after he lost the battle against COVID-19.

According to KABB, Gonzales’ family confirmed his passing after he spent three weeks on a ventilator at the San Antonio Military Medical Center.

According to Ronald Gonzales, the family is devastated by the passing of his brother Joe. He stated his brother fought against the virus and they are thankful for the staff at the SAMMC who took care of him during his hospitalization.

"Do all the politics you want, just stay away from the scientists that are telling us these things to keep us alive," said Gonzales. "It's not your right or my right. It's to stay alive if you wear your mask and stay distant."

Joe Gonzales played with several bands over the years before he joined the El Dorado Band. He passed away one week after the band’s latest album was released.

Gonzales is survived by his wife and four adult children.
