EnPleinAir Texas 2019 Returns This Weekend to San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – EnPleinAir Texas Competition is back in San Angelo for another art-filled week.

Public events kick off on Saturday, October 19th with a Pre-Paint Afternoon to welcome artists to town. From 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm find artists at these “Come Watch & Ask While I Paint” event locations:

Railway Museum of San Angelo - 703 S. Chadbourne, near the blue engine.

At the Paseo de Santa Angela event: "Brews, Ewe, & BBQ Cook-off" - Corner of Ave. D & S. Oakes

Eggemeyers General Store inside at 35 E. Concho, inside at the Model T

FARM Museum - S. Oakes St. across from Eggemeyers General Store

On Sunday, October 20th and Monday, October 22nd artists will be attending private events and an Artist Paint-Out near Christoval, site of the 1920's Texas Artist Camps.

On Tuesday, October 22nd an all morning paint-out will be hosted at the International Waterlily Gardens. Fifteen EnPleinAir Texas Artists will be painting at the park. A luncheon will be held at noon at the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church across the street from the Waterlily Gardens. This is a ticketed event and tickets can be purchased at the following link.

Wednesday, October 23rd will feature another day of painting for artists on private ranches north of San Angelo.

On Thursday, October 24th artists will have a free paint day. They are allowed to paint anywhere in the area or return to favorite spots. If you would like to commission your favorite artist to paint something for you, make arrangements earlier in the week at EPAT Headquarters or with the artist.

Friday, October 25th is competition day where artists turn in their paintings from the week to prepare for judging, tonight's exhibition, and the awards party.

The schedule for that day will be as follows:

10:30 am – 12:00 pm – Awards Judge Don Demers presents "What Makes A Painting Exceptional" at SAMFA Meeting room, One Love Street. (This is open to the public.)

1:00 - 3:30 pm – Find artists at "Come Watch & Ask While I Paint" sessions at the river behind the SA Museum of Fine Arts. Artists will be painting in every direction. Everyone is invited to watch, meet the artists, and learn. Painting locations will be marked with flags.

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Art Collectors Stampede Awards Party & Sale at the Quartermaster & Commissary Buildings at Fort Concho. This is the first opportunity for the public to see the 2019 Competition Paintings and everything that was painted this week.

This is a ticketed event and those can be purchased by clicking on the link. A $100 Ticket includes a $100 credit towards the purchase of a painting in the exhibit. 

The awards presentation will begin at 7:00 pm and will be presented by Judge Donald Demers of Eliot, Maine. Artists donate a portion of all sales back to benefit the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts (SAMFA) free education programs for children in their 18 county service area.

The second weekend of EnPleinAir Texas will kick off with a Morning Paint Out at the Roping Fiesta from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. 

From 7:30 - 9 am - any artist may register ($10 fee) and come paint at the San Angelo Fairgrounds with the Competition Artists. An exhibit, sale, and awards presentation will be held outside the Housley Building at noon.

“Meet the artists and “rope yourself a colorful memory” of cowboys and paintbrushes!”

9 am to 5 pm – Exhibit & Sale at the Quartermaster & Commissary Buildings at Fort Concho; over 350 paintings to look at and purchase.

From 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm will feature an ‘” Art Walk” for kids at the exhibit at Fort Concho, where visitors vote for their favorite, and then sit down to paint with local and some of the Competition Artists there to wander and help. This event is free for kids and sponsored by the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council.

Art supplies will be provided and JFM Frames will be gifting frames. Chick-Fil-A is offering a free Kids Meal gift card for each child and free entrée gift cards for each parent.

6:30 to 9:00 pm – 'Adios' To The Artists Party – gather with the artists for a night under the stars and among the paintings at the Quartermaster Building. Be the first to lay eyes on the "Mini-Pearls Of The Conchos" Exhibit.

The last day of the week, Sunday, October 27th, will feature an Artist Exhibit and Sale that will open to the public from 10:00 am – 3:00 p. A Chuck Wagon Brunch with the artists will be held from 11:00 am – 1 pm.

Judges Talk & Stray Calf Award Presentation will start at 1 pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Awards Judge Don Demers speak about his choices for the winning paintings. This event will also be open to the public.

The EnPleinAir Texas week officially ends at 3:00 pm.
