Kacey Musgraves Channels Selena Wowing Rodeo Houston

 

HOUSTON, TX -- Social media is all abuzz about Texas country music artist Kacey Musgrave's Monday night performance at Rodeo Houston kicking off three weeks of tradition, history and fun at the world's largest rodeo in Texas' largest city.  

Musgraves is fresh off winning at the Grammy Awards and stunned and delighted the crowd in the NRG Stadium by covering the late Tejano sensation Selena's "Como La Flor"(Like the Flower) singing in flawless Spanish.

Selena Quintanilla-Perez was regarded as the Queen of Tejano music and was tragically killed in 1995 after performing at Rodeo Houston where she performed "Como La Flor."

Kacey has won six Grammy Awards, four Country Music Association Awards and an Academy of Country Music Award. Musgraves self-released three albums before appearing on the fifth season of the USA Network's singing competition Nashville Star in 2007, where she placed seventh.Her fourth studio album Golden Hour (2018) was released to widespread critical acclaim and won all four of its nominated Grammy Awards categories, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album. The album's first two singles, "Butterflies" and "Space Cowboy", won Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song, respectively. Golden Houralso won the Country Music Association Award for Album of the Year.

Monday night, Kacey won the hearts of many at Rodeo Houston and honored the memory of the Queen of Tejano music.  

Kacey set the bar high for the rest of the entertainers who will take the custom rotating stage at Rodeo Houston over the next three weeks.
