Cookin' for Christ Still Has Turkeys and Hams for Sale All Day Tuesday

SAN ANGELO, TX — The men and some women of Cookin’ for Christ, a rather informal group of barbecue enthusiasts, hold an annual fundraiser each Thanksgiving.

Monday through Tuesday, you will see an armada of barbecue pits welded onto trailers parked in the side lot adjacent to Blaine’s Pub, 10 W. Harris Ave.

The “smokers” as they are called, will be cooking a few hundred full weight turkeys and some hams for Thanksgiving. The cooked birds (and pigs) are sold to the general public as a fundraiser for area charities. Turkeys (generally, the 12-14 lb. variety, pre-cooked) are $35 ea. and the hams are $45 ea.

You can order them through Tuesday early afternoon and pick them up later that day. But hurry, this year the turkeys and hams are selling briskly.

This year, the men and some women of CFC designated two charities who will receive the proceeds of this year’s sale. They are:

The way it works is you pre-order the turkeys and/or hams and then pick them up and pay for them  on Tuesday after 5 p.m.

Call the bartender at Blaine’s to reserve your bird and/or ham at (325) 653-7074, or drop by sometime during the day Tuesday at 10 W. Harris Ave. and order your bird and ham for pickup later that day.

The meat is delicious. You cannot find a turkey or ham cooked this way anywhere but here. And the proceeds all go to two great local charities.

Remember, you can call in and reserve your order Tuesday, but pick up of turkeys and hams does not begin until 5 p.m.
