What Should You Do This Weekend? Check Out this List of San Angelo Events

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Many events will be taking place Friday through Sunday in San Angelo. Below is the list of notable events happening around town.

Halloween

CANCELED-The Haunted Hayride at the San Angelo State Park has been canceled again for Saturday October 20 due to rain and road conditions and hopes to continue the event next year.

CANCELED-Murder at Fort Concho has been canceled for Friday night only due to rain conditions. Guests with tickets for Friday’s event may use them on Saturday. If a person is unable to attend the event on Saturday that has a Friday ticket, a refund is available by calling the Fort at 325-657-4444.

Murder at Fort Concho is back for its third annual event Saturday October 20 at Fort Concho, 630 S. Oakes St. from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to play detective, just like in the board game Clue. Tickets are available in the Visitor Center at Barracks 1 but will not be sold after 9 p.m. General Admission is $10 and $8 for Fort Concho members. The TCSA Trunk or Treat on Friday October 19 at 3516 Knickerbocker Rd. from 6 to 8 p.m. This is the first year that Team Chip TKD San Angelo is hosting a Trunk or Treat.

Custom Taylor Made Carpentry is hosting its 3rd Annual Haunted House from Friday October 19 through Sunday October 21 and again Friday October 26 through Wednesday October 31 at 918 W. 14th St. from 7 to 11 p.m. Donations from admission will be in memory of Shelly Taylor, and also given to Cassie’s Place and wildlife rescue. General Admission is $10 with a $2 donation. For military and students, admission is $8 with a $1 donation and must show an ID. Children ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

A Zombie Prom will be held at The Tavern, 115 S. Chadbourne, from 9 p.m. to midnight on Friday October 19 by the Dazzling Dames of San Angelo. The non-profit organization is a vintage-inspired sisterhood that empowers woman regardless of standards.  Non-perishable foods items are being collected and all proceeds will benefit Meals for The Elderly. Food and drinks will be provided, along with raffles, games and a crowning of the 2018 Zombie Prom King and Queen! Music and Performances

CANCELED-Casey Donahew was supposed to perform at the Rock Relentless Party and free concert at Cavender’s but was canceled due to the likelihood of severe weather.

On Friday October 19, the New Chinese Acrobats will be putting on a show at the San Angelo Performing Arts Center, 82 Gillis St., from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The performers will represent the evolution of Chinese acrobats by mixing new techniques and ancient Chinese folk-art traditions. The group was created in collaboration with world-famous Cirque Eloize, and the award-winning acts are from prestigious circus festivals like Monte Carlo Circus Festival and World Circus Festival of Paris. Tickets range from $25 to $86 at sanangelopac.org.

The world’s only Slayer, Pantera and Metallica cover band, Slaterica, will play at Spam’s Bar and Lounge at 8 p.m. on Friday October 19 at 2321 Sherwood Way. They are the number one of the West Texas Deathride.

Festivals and Gatherings

The Association of Asian-American Women is hosting it fifth annual Asian Bazaar on Saturday October 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at El Paseo De Santa Angela, 34 W. Ave D. The Asian-American Cultural Festival is raising funds for its programs. The free event will include food and shop vendors, performances, martial arts, children and family games, raffles, a silent auction and more.

The San Angelo Chili Pod Fall Festival will take place on Saturday October 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. The location has been changed to the Ice House on 2805 N. Chadbourne due to inclement weather. Day 1 on Saturday, the CASI chili turn in time in 2 p.m. The entry fee is $20, with an open meat policy. Sunday, Day 2, is jackpot beans. The fee is $5 and turn in time is 12 noon. On Sunday, October 21, there will be a Block Party at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church from 4 to 6 p.m. at 4522 College Hills Blvd. All ages are welcome for hot dogs, lemonade, face painting, inflatables, snow cones and fellowship.

Grand Opening, Blood Drive, Comedy Night, Cancer Cause

Friday October 19 is the Grand Opening of B & b San Angelo/Board and Brush from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at 3369 Knickerbocker Rd. Prizes and coupons will be given at the studio as well as giveaways. The first 25 people to visit B & b will get a swag bag, some with a free workshop voucher. The grand prize is one free party of 10, which is a $650 value. To enter the grand prize, participants must attend the grand opening on Friday or the Make and take on Saturday at 12 noon and take a picture of you by your favorite sign in the studio, post it to Facebook and tag Board & Brush San Angelo, or use the hashtag #boardandbrushsanangelo.

Sunset Mall will host the 30th Annual KIXY Bloodsuckers Blood Drive Saturday, October 20 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. next to Beall’s. Donors will receive two Icon Cinema admission tickets, a Bloodsuckers t-shirt, and mall coupons for Chick-Fil-A, Charley’s Philly Steaks and two rounds of free Lunar Golf. Appointments are advised but not required. A Comedy Night will be held at Tilted Mug, 3520 Knickerbocker Rd., on Saturday October 20 from 9:30 p.m. until midnight. Live talent will feature Adrienne Green and LaRon Wright. Tickets are $10 each. Call 325-947-5800 for tickets and to reserve a table or ask a bartender for tickets in advance.
