Angelo State University Police Arrest Violent Assault Suspect

SAN ANGELO, TX – Officers with the Angelo State University Police Department arrested a 24-year-old on Wednesday after a girl came forward and told officers she was raped.

According to court documents, on Sept. 22, officers with the ASU Police Department were dispatched to the residence of a victim for the report of a sexual assault.

When the officers arrived they spoke with the victim. She told officers that she and 24-year-old Issac Gafishi had been at the Vanderventer Apartments together.

While in the apartment, the victim claimed that Gafishi pushed her onto a bed and began to fondle her. The victim told officers that she then pushed him off and told him that she would not have sex with him.

Gafishi disregarded and continued by taking off her shirt. The victim continued to try and fight off Gafishi by removing his hands but it would only stop him for a bit. He then put his hands down her pants.

The victim attempted to reject the advances by Gafishi and was said she was clear in her statements to him multiple times that she did not wish to be intimate. After hearing this, Gafishi removed the rest of the victim's clothes and proceeded to assault her anyway, according to the court documents. During the sexual assault, the victim began crying and Gafishi covered her face with a pillow.

He then drove her back to her residence.

After a police investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Gafishi. He was then arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail at 2:27 p.m. He remains in the jail in lieu of a $40,000 bond.
