Border Patrol Agents Save Men in Capsized Boat

LAREDO, TX – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo Sector Marine Unit took quick action when they observed two men in a capsized boat in the Rio Grande River near One River Place in south Laredo.

The incident occurred on the mid-afternoon of Labor Day, September 7, when the agents observed the men shift their weight to one side of the boat which caused them to capsize.  Though both were wearing life vests, they struggled to stay afloat.  Agents quickly responded and pulled both men from the water onto their Service boat.  Once safe on land, the two men were medically evaluated by a Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technician from the Laredo South Station.  Neither required medical attention.  The Marine Unit agents assisted the two men in recovering their boat.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, agents from the Laredo Sector are trained and ready to respond to an array of emergencies and provide aid to anyone in need.  Their commitment to Public Service is foremost in their duties.  The Vision of the Laredo Sector is to enhance the Nation’s security through innovation, intelligence, collaboration, and community trust.
