SAPD: Teens Arrested In Connection to Shooting of 15-Year-Old Girl

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Police Department has confirmed the arrest of a teen suspect in an early morning shooting.

According to SAPD, just before 5 a.m., officers were dispatched to San Angelo Community Medical Center for the report of a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, identified as a 15-year-old female, had been shot in the lower extremity by a male acquaintance. The incident occurred near the Ben Ficklin Reservoir. 

The victim was eventually flown to a Lubbock area hospital for treatment and her condition is reported as stable.

Police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Esai Lopez. Officers eventually located Lopez and he was taken into custody without incident. 

Lopez has been charged with Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon. A second teen,  18-year-old Joe Garcia, has been charged with Obstruction or Retaliation.
