Abilene PD Receives More Than 4100 Firework Related Calls

 

ABILENE, TX -- Lighting fireworks inside city limits is not allowed, but this Fourth of July weekend Abilene citizens expressed their patriotism outside their homes resulting in thousands of calls to the Abilene Police Department.

According to KTXS, between July 2 -- July 5 dispatchers received a total of 4,108 phone calls that were fire-work related. More than 1,200 of the calls were on Saturday alone.

The following call stats were released by the department. 

July 2 - 850 calls
July 3 - 990 calls
July 4 - 1,248 calls
July 5 - 1,020 calls

The 4,100 calls were in addition to the numerous calls for service dispatchers handled over the weekend.
