Black Man Allegedly Beat Up For Wearing 'White Lives Matter Too' Shirt

ABILENE, TX — An Abilene man claims he was beaten up in a local bar after he wore a shirt that said, “white lives matter too.”

According to KTXS, Niko Nance posted the picture of himself wearing the t-shirt on Facebook. A few hours later he was allegedly beaten up by several black men in the bar’s parking lot.

According to Nance he was punched and thrown to the ground by the men, but he never reported the incident to the police.

"I was bleeding from my nose and mouth," said Nance. "I didn't think people would be like this."

Nance’s Facebook post went viral and gathered thousands of likes, shares, and comments from users all over the country. Some of the comments were positive and some were negative.

According to Nance, he special ordered the shirt to reinforce the message that we are all equal. Nance told local media he supports the Black Lives Matter movement, but that “recent riots and violent protests have had a negative effect on him.”

"I wanted to show my support for other cultures also that are supporting us because that's the way to be a union," said Nance. "The violence right now is not the dream Martin Luther King had.”

Nance said he would wear the t-shirt again because according to him, “I stand for something bigger.”
