Police Sergeant Facing Federal Charges

 

MIDLAND, TX – After being embroiled in a series of altercations with authorities a Midland police sergeant is facing a federal investigation.

According to CBS7, Sergeant Chance Rainer was arrested in April after being involved in a standoff with police after driving intoxicated. Weeks before the accident Rainer had been charged with public intoxication while possessing a firearm.

A federal complaint details a series of allegations where other officers allege Sergeant Chance Rainer used illegal drugs and acted erratically.

According to the complaint, witnesses told investigators they have seen Rainer attempt to buy cocaine from a local bar and a police informant.

People who are close to Rainer told investigators they had witnessed Rainer drink dozens of beers at a time while also taking pills.

Rainer is facing charges of using unlawful substances and unlawfully possessing firearms that were shipped from out of state. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
