Ex-Church Worker Begins Sentence for Lewd Acts with a Minor

 

ABILENE, TX – A former church worker was sentenced to 180 days in jail after pleading guilty to a child sex crime that occurred in 1996. 

According to KTXS, on Mar. 30, Jeff Berry, former employee of the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, was booked into the Taylor County Jail to serve a 180 day sentence for indecency with a child by contact. 

The incident occurred back in 1996 when Berry was accused of touching the genitals of a underaged boy. 

Berry originally turned himself in on the charge on Sep. 20, 2019 and then pleaded guilty on Mar. 20 for the charge. 

The plea deal sentenced Berry to 180 days in the Taylor County Jail, a $2,000 fine and 10-years probation.
