Sheriff: Game Rooms Must Adhere to 10 Person Rule

ODESSA, TX – Ever since Governor Greg Abbott ordered dine-in restaurants and bars to close establishments have made adjustments that allow them to remain in business while following public health guidelines. Across the state, citizens are urged to maintain a six-foot distance between each other and stay home.

According to CBS7, the governor’s order does not provide specific guidelines for game rooms. The Ector County Sheriff's Office stated they “will monitor game rooms.”

The 10-person rule applies to game rooms and these businesses must ensure that no more than 10 people are in each room, including patrons and employees. Those found in violation will be cited and shut down indefinitely.

“Don’t get yourself arrested. Don’t get yourself in trouble, you won’t have to come to jail,” said Sheriff Mike Griffis in a statement. “We’re going to continue what we are doing. We’re going to get through this together. Let’s be kind to one another. Don’t be selfish. If your neighbor needs help go help them.”

Sheriff Griffis assured citizens his deputies will continue enforcing the law to the fullest extent.
