Suspect Charged After Abused Woman Dies in the Hospital

 

MIDLAND, TX – The Midland Police Department has charged a man in the death of a woman after she was hospitalized for criminal neglect. 

According to Newswest9, on Jan. 23, a woman was taken to the Midland Memorial Hospital ER after she sustained multiple injuries. 

During this visit the woman told staff members that she had been physically abused and held against her will. After hearing this staff reported the abuse to the MPD. 

Officers were called into the hospital that night but the victim did not tell them the same information she told staff. 

The woman stayed in the hospital until Feb. 15. This is the day the woman died while in the care of the hospital. 

Four days later detectives with the MPD were contacted regarding to the condition of the woman's body. They were urged to open an investigation. 

On Feb. 26 officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of Tony Jeffery Green. He was charged with criminally negligent homicide. During initial interviews, Green admitted to the claims of abuse. 

He remains in the Midland County Jail. His bond has not been set at this time.
