San Angelo Car Burglar Suspect Tripped and Tased

SAN ANGELO, TX – Officers with the San Angelo Police Department arrested a man Friday after they caught him breaking into cars at a local hotel.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, on Febuary 21, officers with the SAPD were dispatched to the Red Lion Hotel for the report of a man rummaging through guests’ vehicles.

Police arrived and observed Cody Binyon, 31, in the act and a chase occurred.

During the chase, Binyon turned back to yell at the officer, which caused him to miscalculate the terrain and trip over a curb.

A struggle ensued and Binyon assaulted the officer, which led the officer to deploy his taser.

Once Binyon was in custody a loaded pistol magazine was found in his possession and a pistol was located at the first area where he tripped over the curb. He also had a parole violation warrant.

Binyon was charged with evading arrest with a previous conviction, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, assault on a peace officer, and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Tom Green County Jail at 7:17 a.m. He remains in there in lieu of a $48,000 bond.
