Suspected Drug Dealer Indicted After Police Find Meth During Traffic Stop

SAN ANGELO, TX – A suspected meth dealer has been indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury for allegedly manufacturing and delivering methamphetamine.

According to the affidavit, on December 1, officers with the San Angelo Police Department pulled over a vehicle on the 1500 block of Armstrong after the driver failed to use a turn signal within 100 feet of an intersection.

Once stopped the officers spoke with the driver who allowed them to search the vehicle.

Inside of the vehicle officers found a black scale with white residue underneath the passenger seat. The person sitting in the passenger seat, Trent Watson, 25, was then placed under arrest. Inside of Watson's pockets was four empty clear baggies.

The search continued in the vehicle and officers found a glass pipe with white residue in the glove box along with used syringes. Another used syringe was found wedged in between the passenger seat and the center console. This syringe had a piece of cotton and a white crystal substance inside of it.

The search concluded with the officers finding a brown back pack and a small black nylon case. Inside the bag was several empty baggies and another scale. In the case officers found 6.2 grams of meth and 1.2 grams of meth in different packages.

Watson claimed that the scale and meth found under the seat was his but the rest of the items belonged to the driver Eric Poole.

During this incident neither of the men were charged nor booked into the Tom Green County Jail. The affidavit states that the officer was instructed not to charge Watson for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance at that time. The suspected meth was then sent to the Department of Public Safety's drug lab for further analysts.

Then on January 21, an arrest warrant was issued for Watson for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. He was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail where he posted a $50,000 surety bond on January 31.

Watson was indicted for manufacture and delivery of February 7. He has a post indictment reporting hearing on March 4 at 8:30 a.m.
