Midland Detective Fired After Assaulting Family Member

MIDLAND, TX – A Midland Police detective was terminated Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted a family member.

According to CBS7, former detective Jose Morales was arrested over the weekend after he became confrontational with the victim and choked her to the point where she was gasping for air when he released her.

When the victim attempted to leave Morales is alleged to have “forcefully placed his hand inside her mouth, grabbing her by the lower jaw.” He then pushed her inside the house.

Morales forced the victim to stay in the house Saturday night and kept his hand inside her mouth to prevent her from screaming.

Morales had been with the department for seven years.
