Career Criminal with Mental Health Issues Indicted on Family Violence Charges

SAN ANGELO, TX – A career criminal who is already convicted of numerous counts has now been indicted on new charges of family violence.

According to court reports, David Earl Bryant, 30, first came into the San Angelo crime scene in 2013 after he was arrested for theft of property and driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age in the vehicle. This was the beginning of what would take up the remainder of the decade. Charges including assaults, thefts, and family violence.

Then in 2017, Bryant was charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child by sexual contact, and indecency with a child by exposure. The districts attorney's office offered a deal to Bryant that if he pleaded guilty to the exposure charge the rest would go away. He agreed and in exchange he would be on four years deferred adjudication. Not a year into the probation, the DA filed a motion to revoke his deferred adjudication after he was arrested in Brown County for possession of marijuana.

Bryant was then arrested for aggravated robbery, burglary of a building with multiple fraudulent IDs, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled substance, and burglary of a habitation. These trials are all pending due to a mental health evaluation.

In January of 2020, a Tom Green County Grand Jury indicted Bryant on new charges of family violence. During this incident Bryant is accused of attacking a family member with a 2x4, an aluminum broom handle, and then a kitchen knife.

During the assault Bryant is accused of threatening to kill the woman while she was holding a small child in her arms. He allegedly cut the woman with the knife, broke the aluminum broom on her, and beat her with the 2x4 while calling her vulgar slurs.

Bryant is currently in the Tom Green County Jail.
