WATCH: SAPD Officers Chase Down Wanted Child Predator

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – An accused child predator is currently behind bars after officers with the San Angelo police chased him down in broad daylight. 

According to police, on January 27, officers were dispatched to the corner of N. Van Buren and Walnut for the report of a wanted man. The report came after an officer on the scene saw a man he knew had a warrant or his arrest. 

When the officer attempted to approach the man, he ran. Here is a video of the scene. 

The chase only covered a few blocks until the man was eventually apprehended near the intersection of Monroe and Martin.

After the suspect was taken into custody, officers confirmed the man's identity was 30-year-old Samuel Cerna. Then police found him in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. 

He was taken to the Tom Green County Jail and was charged with sexual assault of a child, possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $251,162.
