Teen and Toddler Allegedly Shot by Police During Drug Raid

MIDLAND, TX – The Texas Rangers have been called into Midland after officers with the Midland Police Department are accused of shooting a teenager and a toddler during a search.

According to CBS7, on January 22 at around 9:30 p.m., officers with the Midland Police Department were executing a search warrant near the 2000 block east Pine Avenue.

During the search, a teenager and a three-year-old were shot. The teen was shot in the arm, treated by medical personnel, and then transported to a juvenile detention center.

As for the toddler, the father says that she has internal injuries and is currently in a Lubbock hospital.

The father told CBS7 that this wasn't the first time that the cops have searched the house for drugs.

He also claims the Midland Police Department officers did not announce themselves before entering. The father says that prompted the teen to confront them with "something in his hand." He could not confirm if it was a weapon or not.

A Midland City spokeswoman only confirmed that there was an officer-involved shooting and that the Texas Rangers are investigating.
