BIG LAKE, TX — The Reagan County Sheriff’s Office in Big Lake received a call Friday afternoon with a report that 24-year-old Jose Arturo Navarrete, Jr. may have been spotted at Lowe’s grocery store there. Lowe’s is just off the main highway, US 67, at 505 E 2nd St there.
Since publishing the FBI bulletin about wanted man Navarrete, Jr., two unconfirmed sightings have been made in the region. Earlier this week, a reader told us Navarrete, Jr. was hired as a water truck driver for a Midland oil field services company. The reader said he last saw Navarrete, Jr. Dec. 21 on the job. Now the spotting in Big Lake on Friday was suspicious enough that the Reagan County Sheriff issued a report.
Navarrete was born in Midland, and is described as a Hispanic male with hazel eyes and black hair. He is 5 feet, 11 inches and weighs 172 pounds.
According to FBI Special Agent John Ogden, Navarrete sometimes wears a short beard or a goatee, sometimes is clean-shaven. His weight can fluctuate a little bit, too, so maybe he’s a little bit skinnier in the face at one time, a little bit heavier at another.
He was charged in Sacramento County, California with four counts of lewd or lascivious act with a child, three counts of a sex act with a child 10 years old or younger and four counts of oral sex with a child 10 years old or younger.
On August 22, 2019, a federal arrest warrant was issued in the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, Sacramento, California, for Navarrete, Jr. after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Jose Arturo Navarrete, Jr.
The Reagan County Sheriff warned that is you see this wanted man, do not approach him. Instead report him to the Sheriff’s Office with details about his appearance, clothes and vehicle.
