Border Patrol Arrests More than 30 Illegals from Africa Attempting to Gain Entry into US

DEL RIO, TX  U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Station apprehended 36 individuals from Brazil and the continent of Africa near the Del Rio Port of Entry, Nov. 13.

“Migrants from all over the world continue to enter the United States through our borders illegally,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. “It is imperative that those who wish to enter the United States do so through a port of entry rather than put their families in the hands of smugglers, and risk the treacherous Rio Grande River.”

Agents apprehended 36 nationals from Congo, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Brazil. Among the group were 14 children, the youngest only 9 months old. All were transported to the Del Rio Border Patrol Station and processed per U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidelines.

In separate incidents, Nov. 12, agents arrested two illegal aliens from Pakistan, one while he was attempting to circumvent the checkpoint near Eagle Pass.

Since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2020, Oct. 1, agents in the Del Rio Sector have apprehended more than 2,900 people from countries other than Mexico, a 60 percent increase from FY19, to date.
