According to KTXS, on Jan 19th Thompson and the victim performed a seance. In the indictment, the victim said that during the seance Thompson’s voice changed and she believes he was possessed.

If we're to lend credence to absurdities like "virgin births" and resurrected zombie saviors (even for the sake of respecting the privileged delusions of others), why then, is "I was possessed, and wasn't responsible for my actions" such a hard bite to swallow?

Clean your plate or get the hell away from the buffet.

I think that even if one were the type whose family would make a caravan pilgrimage to San Angelo just to see the bronze idol of the blue UFO woman whose legend was appropriated by the dominant religious tradition, you would still have to conclude that this particular human vessel effed up by opening himself up to demonic forces. The logic is, still, just air tight. No sympathy points earned, do not pass Go, do not collect $200, etc..
