Accused AR-15 Thief Now Faces Charges for Lewd Acts with a Child

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- An 18-year-old that was charged with stealing an AR-15 from a house and ditching it when police arrived was arrested yesterday for aggravated sexual assault of a child. 

On June 10, 2019, the San Angelo Police Department arrested Marc Duarte, 18, for evading on foot and tampering with evidence after him and his friends led officers on a foot chase and ditched an AR-15. Here's the story: Teens Armed with Assault Rifle Run From the Law.

On December 5, 2018, Duarte was indicted for tampering with evidence. Then, the following day he signed a Pre-trial Intervention Contract that insisted he wanted a speedy trial. 

Then yesterday, September 16, 2019, Duarte was rearrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for aggravated sexual assault of a child. 

A deputy with the Comal County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Duarte was arrested for a warrant out of Comal County. He could not give any details on why the warrant was issued.

Duarte is currently in the Tom Green County Jail and his bond is set at $20,000.
